The Legend of Lake Toba

Long time ago, there was a farmer named Toba. One day, he caught a big fish. Surprisingly, the fish turned into a beautiful woman. Toba fell in love with her and they got married. The woman agreed to marry him with one condition: he must never tell anyone about her origin.

They had a son named Samosir. Samosir was a lazy boy who loved to eat. One day, Toba asked Samosir to bring him lunch to the field, but Samosir ate all the food on the way. When Toba found out, he was very angry and shouted, “You son of a fish!”

Samosir ran home crying and told his mother. The woman was very sad because Toba had broken his promise. She told Samosir to climb the highest hill. Then, she disappeared and heavy rain began to fall. The rain flooded the entire area and created a big lake, which is now known as Lake Toba. Samosir survived and became the island in the middle of the lake, called Samosir Island.

Borobudur Temple

Borobudur Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the world. It is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The temple was built in the 9th century during the reign of the Sailendra dynasty.

The temple consists of nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome. It is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The temple has three levels representing the three realms of Buddhist cosmology.

Borobudur was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. Today, it is one of Indonesia’s most popular tourist destinations. Every year, millions of tourists from around the world visit this magnificent temple to admire its architectural beauty and learn about Buddhist philosophy.

My Unforgettable Trip to Yogyakarta

Last month, I went to Yogyakarta with my family for a five-day trip. We departed from Jakarta by train early in the morning and arrived in Yogyakarta in the afternoon.

On the first day, we visited Malioboro Street. We walked along the street, looked at various souvenirs, and tried some local food. The atmosphere was very lively. On the second day, we went to Borobudur Temple. The temple was magnificent, and we took many photos there.

The next day, we visited Prambanan Temple. It was as beautiful as Borobudur but with a different architectural style. On the fourth day, we explored the Sultan’s Palace and Taman Sari Water Castle. We learned a lot about Javanese culture and history.

On the last day, we went shopping for souvenirs before heading to the train station. The trip was unforgettable, and I hope to visit Yogyakarta again someday.
